Venasque

Whenever you mention the name, “Venasque” in Provence, the reaction is predictable …. Ah, Venasque – c’est tres beau.  It is indeed a beautiful village, located on a rocky outcrop and surrounded by steep cliffs near the Gorges de la Nesque (the Canyons of the Nesque River), it overlooks vineyards and orchards.

In the very heart of this medieval village, surrounded by ramparts,  you will find steep narrow streets, stone homes, and the magnificent church Notre-Dame with its pre-Romanesque Baptistry the oldest shrine in Vaucluse.
