Maison des Pelerins is perched at the top of the traditional Village of Sablet in Provence, its entry right next door to the 12th Century Romanesque Church of St. Nazaire ....
.......it is likely (from the appearance) that the oldest part of these houses date back to a similar time and were once associated with the Papal Residence (during the time that the Popes administered the Church from Avignon), and accommodations for pilgrims and visitors to the area.
The entry to la Baume des Pelerins is on the Grande Rue side of the same building as Maison des Pelerins.
The interiors of both Maison des Pelerins and la Baume des Pelerins have been completely renovated - these houses provide an experience that is a dream of living in a small village in Provence!
On a warm summer morning, wake up to the church bells and the aroma of fresh bread baking at the Boulangerie below. Take two minutes to walk down to the Sablet Village Shops for your fresh bread and croissants for breakfast, which you can enjoy in the coutryard, by the fountain at Maision des Pelerins (pictured above), or in the cool freshness of the "baume" (pictured below) at La Baume des Pelerins.

The Village of Sablet is located approx. 9 Kilometers south of Vaison la Romaine in the heart of the Cote du Rhone Wine Growing Appellation. Winery visits and wine tasting are right at your doorstep - from the the many Sablet Wineries to its well known neighbors such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacquyras and Beaumes de Venise with its Muscat - a truly local specialty - and wonderful aperitif or desert wine!
Concerts, theater and film festivals are frequent in Vaison la Romaine, Avignon and Orange - all within a few minutes of Sablet. Antiques shopping (or window shopping) at Isle sur la Sorgue is a special treat in this world famous Antiques center.
Cooking Schools and Cooking classes with Chefs of the caliber of Patricia Wells are only a few minutes away, as are the fragrant and colorful lavender fields which perfume the whole region during the summer months. Within a short distance of SabletHome(s) are towns such as St. Remy de Provence (where Van Gogh spent his last years), Aix en Provence (also known as the Paris of the South), Salon de Provence (home to Nostradamus), Les Baux de Provence (dramatic fortress village), Cassis (beautiful beach town) and Marseilles. Maison des Pelerins and La Baume des Pelerins are ideal spots for rest and relaxation after a busy day at these nearby "must sees".
