Menerbes

This village has been the home to many famous artists and authors amongst whom are Picasso during the early 20th Century and Peter Mayle who lived there during the 1980’s and wrote his well known novel(s) “A Year In Provence” and its sequels.  Anyone who watched the dramatization of this novel, in the TV Mini Series will recognize the Pont St Julien (pictured above), as scores of visitors and tradesmen drove over it en route to their house.

Menerbes has joined the ranks of the most beautiful villages in France, and although it has very much of  a village atmosphere,  its old homes and 18th Century Mansions close into the village add a stately air to it.
