The Dentelles de Montmirail

The Dentelles are a rocky ridge of steep mountains that run from the Ventoux range.

The word  dentelle means lace, as its jagged peaks are said to resemble.

The range is eight kilometers in length (five miles), and runs from south of Vaison la Romaine to the western foot of Mt. Ventoux.

The region that includes the villages of Sablet, Seguret, Gigondas and Vacqueyras is referred to as the Pays de Dentelles de Montmirail (Dentelles de Montmirail Country).

The Ouveze River flows along the western side of the Dentelles, through the wine producing towns of this area.

*Hiking is popular in the Dentelles with trails that originate in the surrounding villages, including one trail that runs along the length of the ridge.
